June in Review

It's surreal to believe half of 2019 is behind us!  And with so much more ahead :)

With 4 races under my belt in the last 6 months (Kaiser 10K, Livermore Valley Half, Oklahoma City Half & Bay to Breakers 12K), I have been gradually settling into my full marathon training and it's been a lot of fun!  And as always, with lots to take in and feel grateful for.

With a good amount of travel for work the last few months (7 states!), I have managed to stay flexible but disciplined in getting my workouts in and enjoying them along the way.

Here's my month of June in review:

7.5 miles in Golden Gate Park, SF
By the Bison Paddock

Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival with dear friends, Olivia
& Candace
4.4 miles in Downtown San Diego
Along Pacific Highway via Little Italy 🖤

6.1 miles in Newport Beach
Along the peaceful & scenic Ecological Reserve Loop

Breakfast with the always positive & inspiring 2-time Boston finisher (and good friend), Andi, in Venice, followed by beach time and a nice long stroll under the SoCal sun ☀
4.5 miles in Los Angeles
...followed by Brunch & Cocktails with my lovely cousin Ilyse in Venice
18 Holes in Tilden Park, Berkeley with my LinkedIn colleagues
Hosting a table @ LinkedIn SF with my teammate, Megan, Campaign Manager for Team in Training
9.8 miles across the Golden Gate Bridge and back, and through the Coastal Trail to Baker Beach

Fundraising update:  We are now at $1,380 of $6k, through the generosity of friends of mine like Drew Wenzel, Jon Lucchese & Carolyn Sweeney ... as well as the wonderful corporate gift match offered by LinkedIn.

Think we can get to my first goal of $2k by the end of June?

Fact: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds research to advance more breakthrough therapies for blood cancer patients.  LLS has the goal of moving from highly toxic treatments to more targeted therapies. Thanks to research and access to better treatments, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled since 1960.
